The earliest history of Andijk still remains unclear: there are still findings that go back to a.o. the Bronze Age. Once it belonged to the city of Stede Broek, but during the French domination Andijk became an independent municipality in 1812. Andijk has a very fertile clay ground, ideal for agriculture and horticulture. Cauliflower, flower bulps and potatoes are the main results of these sectors. Andijk also produces drinking water for the whole region. Tourists can visit Andijk's three museums. Or enjoy the marinas and the beach/nature area De Vooroever.
